Chelsea boss Frank Lampard must definitely get his tactics right for the game against Bayern Munich in the Champions League round of 16 first leg tie at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.
After the game against Spurs, we believe it’ll be best for Lampard to go for a three at the back system to help shore up our open defence.
Check out the team we believe can do another upset against the German champions:
Chelsea starting XI (3-4-3)
Centre-backs: Azpilicueta, Christensen, Rudiger
Wing-backs: Reece James, Alonso
Midfield: Jorginho, Kovacic, Mount, Willian
On the choice of goalkeeper, Willy Caballero has been in goal for the last three games and is in the match sharpness mode to start against Bayern. Recalling Kepa Arrizabalaga for this game will be a bigger risk.
The three centre-back pairing of Andreas Christensen, Cesar Azpilicueta and Toni Rudiger did a great job against Spurs and were unlucky to concede an own goal.
In midfield, Lampard shunned pace and packed out his midfield as he chose to start with Ross Barkley. But the Blues might need the pace of Willian for counter attack against Bayern. However, the Brazilian’s recent form has been questionable.
In attack, Olivier Giroud has shown in the last two games that he’s a big game player and his impact has been felt after a transfer window of uncertainties. Tammy isn’t fully fit and could do a good job from the bench when needed.
