Chelsea vs Manchester United cannot be talked about without mentioning the VAR decisions that ruined the game.
It was a bitter defeat for Chelsea as Harry Maguire should have been sent off in the first half for a lunge on Michy Batshuayi, while Kurt Zouma’s goal early in the second half should have stood.
Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud who had a goal ruled out for offside by the VAR has revealed that the VAR was harsh to cancel Zouma’s goal.
Giroud said: “The VAR decisions were harsh. For Zouma’s goal, you can see that kind of duel all day long in games.”
Meanwhile, Mateo Kovacic chose not to talk about the VAR decisions as he wished his side had gone on to win the game.
“I don’t like to comment on the referee’s decisions because it’s difficult for them as well,” he said.
“VAR is here and if it was offside then you can do nothing about it. Of course, it’s difficult for us because we scored twice.
“You score at 2-1 and you are in the game but then it’s a foul. It’s tough for us obviously because we scored and they didn’t count but in the end that’s football.”
