Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud couldn’t complete a move away from the club before the close of the January transfer window, and he vowed to give his all to the club for the remaining months.

Giroud has been hailed as a top professional by his manager and teammates as the World Cup winner has been left out for so long but yet remained positive.

The 33-year-old came on as a substitute against Manchester United and was superb, and was unfortunate that his sublime header was ruled out for offside.

Given a rare start in the Premier League against Tottenham, Giroud impressed yet again and scored the opener for Chelsea in what was a top performance from the Frenchman.

Speaking after the game, Giroud admitted he was pleased to have helped the team by scoring and getting the win against a rival.

He said: “It was a very important game for us. We have shown great character. We knew it was a turning point, we had lost a bit of confidence so it’s nice to bounce back and get a hard win against a rival.

“Scoring was a good feeling for me, a good moment. It was a special day for me, and for all of us.”
