RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner is a key target for Chelsea this summer as Frank Lampard seeks to strengthen his squad.

The 23 year old striker, who scored the only goal as RB Leipzig beat Tottenham 1-0 on Wednesday night, has a release clause in his contract.

According to James Pearce of The Athletic, the release clause of Werner is £50 million, which is a bargain in today’s hyper-inflated transfer market.

“It’s quite well known that he’s got a release clause around £50million,” Pearce said, as quoted by Daily Express.

Fans are hoping the German international choose Chelsea amid interest from Liverpool after watching him impress against Tottenham.

  1. If Werner joined Chelsea it’s likely he becomes the first choice striker with only Abraham as compition. At Liverpool he is behind Salah Firmino and Mane. I would expect his wages to be about the same. So it’s down to personal reasons like where he would like to live. Although if we don’t get top 4 finish we will struggle to get a top striker.
