Manchester United captain Harry Maguire escaped a red card during United’s 2-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Monday night despite kicking out at Michy Batshuayi.

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has blamed Chelsea boss Frank Lampard and his coaching crew for allowing Maguire escape a red card.

According to Scholes, the Chelsea bench was too passive and he believes Maguire would have been sent off if it was Jose Mourinho on the bench.

Scholes said: “I think the reaction from the Chelsea bench could have been a bit more aggressive.

“I think if Mourinho is on the Chelsea bench he would be going ballistic and been holding his hand up [waving a card].”

  1. Take it scholes was watching a totally different match. Everyone on the bench jumped up with arms in the air shouting at the ref. Dont blame Lampard for us having a guy on Utds back hander list ref the match and who ever was the knob doing VAR. Whos also probably on that pay list. Plus shouldn’t need the people in the dugout to act aggressive for the ref to do his job properly.

  2. so according to Scholes, Lampard and crew should referee matches and coach at the same time due to incompetence of the EPL Referees?

Big is big and coach is neither a referee nor a blame to a coach
