Lazio tried to sign Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud towards the end of the January transfer window, with the France international keen on leaving Chelsea in January.
Despite Giroud’s desire to leave Chelsea in January, the striker remained at the club as Chelsea were unable to sign a replacement.
Lazio director of sport Igli Tare has explained why Lazio only pushed to sign Giroud during the January transfer window.
When asked why the only approach made in the January transfer window was for Chelsea striker Giroud, Tare told DAZN: “We evaluated the situation, this squad is competitive and we only tried to bring in another forward during the final days of the window because of some injury concerns. That is all.”
