David Coote has been dropped from Premier League duty this weekend.
Coote, who was the VAR referee for Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, failed to send off Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso for a stamp on Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta.
To make matters worse, Coote was on duty for Manchester City’s victory over Leicester City and failed to give a penalty for handball against Kevin De Bruyne when he blocked James Maddison’s free-kick.
It seems Coote has now been punished following his errors in the Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur game and Leicester City vs Manchester City games. He won’t be on duty this weekend as a referee, nor as an assistant referee and certainly not for VAR duty.
I think when premier league referee get it wrong they should be put down to the lowest level and have their contract cancelled
