Chelsea were interested in Spanish attacking midfielder Dani Olmo before his January transfer to German club RB Leipzig.

According to Dinamo Zagreb’s sporting director Zoran Mamic, the 21 year old only wanted to join RB Leipzig as a move to England or Italy didn’t appeal to him.

“It’s hard to say now. We could have done more, for sure, but it wasn’t just our decision,”Mamic said, as per Sportske.

“We could have told Danny that we did not agree to go to Lepzig, that we had not agreed, but that would not be fair to him.

“We didn’t do the problem, although there were bigger deals.

“Although this is by far the biggest deal, the bonuses are realistic, plus 20 percent of future transfers.

“Dani did not want to go to Italy and England, he insisted on Leipzig, if we had had a day or two, he would probably be in Bayern.

“But, Dani said he wanted to Leipzig, he was very keen on the option and should respect it. When he came from Barcelona to Dynamo everyone said “crazy”. Now they say “hear him, he’s going to Leipzig!”.

“And maybe he has something in our head that we don’t see, he showed that he was, ha-ha.”
