Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has warned against signing Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho because he isn’t an upgrade on Willian.

This is according to ESPN FC pundit Alejandro Moreno.

Coutinho has spent the season on loan at German club Bayern Munich after failing to impress at Barcelona.

Moreno believes Coutinho hasn’t shown from his loan spell at Bayern Munich that he is an upgrade on Willian.

“From what we have seen from Coutinho lately, how is he a significant improvement to, say, Willian, who’s right there [at Chelsea]?” Moreno said.

“So if you want to look at the impact Coutinho may have on your team, just look at what Willian is doing right now, and is that good enough? Is that what you’re looking for?

“Is that going to improve your team significantly? I don’t think so.”
