Carlo Ancelotti is the perfect gentleman, and the Italian won the hearts of Chelsea fans during his two-year spell at the club as he led Chelsea to the league and FA Cup double in his first season in charge of the Blues.
After a trophy-less second season where he ended second in the league, the Italian was relieved of his duties by Roman Abramovich, and Carlo has looked back at the incident and what he did with his players.
Speaking to Jamie Carragher in an interview for The Telegraph, Ancelotti said he has fond memories of his farewell with the players as they went partying afterwards.
“All the squad was there,” Ancelotti said. “I knew it was going to be the last game and I had friends from Italy over.
“On the bus home, the players knew I was sacked and Ashley Cole said we must go out. I said no because I had ten friends visiting. We are having dinner at my house.
“But Ashley was, ‘No, no, they must all come. I will send you a bus ’ . So he sent a minibus to get us. It was unforgettable.”
Despite being sacked by Abramovich, Ancelotti has revealed that he still has fond memories of the club and the Chelsea owner.
“I remember every day I was at Chelsea,” he added. “It was a good time, a fantastic period with fantastic staff and unbelievable players.
“I had and I still have a good relationship with Roman Abramovich. He gave me the chance to manage in England and it was one of the best teams I ever managed.”
