Carlo Ancelotti will make a sensational return to Stamford Bridge for the first time as he’d lead out Everton for a Premier League tie at the Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
Ancelotti led Chelsea to the Premier League title and FA Cup trophy as he completed a famous double in his first season at the club in the 2009/10 campaign. He didn’t win a trophy in his second season at the club but led Chelsea to a second place finish and was still sacked by the club.
Speaking about a return to the Bridge where he had a good relationship with the fans, Ancelotti has admitted that he’s excited about it.
“I have fantastic memories from the period I was there. I had two unbelievable seasons and I’m really excited to go back,” said the Everton boss.
Meanwhile, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is also expecting a fantastic welcome from the fans for the Italian.
Asked what type of reception Ancelotti would receive on Sunday, Lampard said: “A very good one. He’s very well respected in-house and by the fans. He is a gentleman, a fantastic manager. It was a good season under him.
“He’s a great man-manager. On a personal level, he’s great at striking up relationships. He’s good tactically and has a great manner. I kept in touch with him now and again.”
