Two starts, two wins, two stunning performances and two man of the match awards – what more could we ask of Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour?

The youngster has revealed his delight at making his full Premier League debut and also admitted that he is keen to get more minutes on the pitch.

Gilmour said: “It was amazing. It was a dream come true to make my full Premier League debut, but most of all getting the win was just fantastic.

“I was more excited than nervous to be fair. It was tough. I just wanted to work my hardest, play well and do my best for the team.

“I’m just delighted to help the team get the win and that we came out on top. I enjoyed the game, especially off the back of a good win against Liverpool in midweek, and hopefully I can get another chance to play. I’m loving it around here at the minute, it’s brilliant.”

Gilmour has been brilliant in the absence of Jorginho, and explaining why he was given his first Premier League start for Chelsea, Blues boss Frank Lampard said: “On one hand, yes, because he deserves to play; on the other hand, we have injuries and suspensions in the same area.

“But I don’t want that to be the reason Billy is playing. Billy is playing because he has trained well all season. He played very well against Liverpool and I expect more of the same today.

“He’s young and I don’t want to heap too much on his shoulders but I believe in him and in the midfield.”
