Chelsea cancelled Thursday’s first team training session after an unidentified person close to the squad complained of suffering from fever and dry cough, two symptoms of coronavirus.
According to The Athletic, the unidentified person has not yet been officially diagnosed with coronavirus but the Cobham training base is undergoing a deep clean as a precaution.
Chelsea are scheduled to play Aston Villa at Villa Park in Saturday’s late kick-off in the Premier League and the players are due to train on Friday ahead of the game.
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard recently expressed his worry about coronavirus but backed Chelsea’s current handling of the situation.
“As a manager, yes. As a father, yes. As a husband, yes. I think we are all in the same boat as far as that is concerned,” Lampard said.
“We are taking all the right courses of action here within the club and I am as concerned as the rest of us, I guess.”
