Chelsea have released a statement acknowledging the end of the club’s planning permission for building a new Stamford Bridge.
The club got planning permission back in 2017 for building a new 60,000-seater stadium on the same site that the current Stamford Bridge is.
However, in the summer of 2018, the plans to build the new stadium were halted and now the permission is about to come to an end.
The Chelsea statement read: “Chelsea Football Club acknowledges that the planning permission we obtained for a new stadium expires on 31st March 2020.
“We are grateful to all our fans and stakeholders, especially Hammersmith & Fulham Council, for their patience and understanding in the matter. We will continue to consider our options for a new stadium, should economic conditions improve.”
