According to The Sun, Chelsea are winning the race to sign Middlesbrough striker Calum Kavanagh.

The Blues are keen on signing the 16 year old striker, who is the son of former top player Graham and the shining light in Boro’s youth ranks.

Premier League club Arsenal are also interested in signing the 16 year old striker but the Blues are confident of winning the race for the teenager.

Middlesbrough want to tie him down to an extended deal but the youngster would rather agree a shorter stay to see how his career maps out.

Chelsea are hoping to take advantage of the situation between Kavanagh and Middlesbrough and persuade the 16 year old to join Chelsea with a shot at making Frank Lampard’s first-team squad.
