Despite being named on the bench for Premier League games against Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth, Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek is yet to play for the Blues this season following his return from a long injury.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has revealed the midfielder is yet to feature for the Blues because he isn’t fully match fit.

Lampard said: “[Loftus-Cheek] may get in the Under-23s game on Monday, he missed the opportunity here.

“He had a small calf injury a week or two ago which stopped him playing in the Under-23s game that I wanted him to and I would like to see him complete a whole game.

“It wouldn’t be fair on him to bring him on for 15 minutes and it probably wouldn’t be the right thing for the team at the moment.

“Once he shows he can go through a game, he will probably be back in.”
