Most Chelsea fans had expected skilful Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek to make his injury comeback against Liverpool on Tuesday but that won’t happen as the England international won’t even be part of the squad.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has confirmed Loftus-Cheek will play with Chelsea U23 team tonight against Everton U23s, which rules him out of the game against Liverpool on Tuesday night at Stamford Bridge.

According to Lampard, playing 90 minutes of football will be good for Loftus-Cheek after his long injury layoff.

Lampard said: “Ruben Loftus-Cheek is playing for the U23s this evening to hopefully get 90 minutes or close to that, which will be great for him.”
