Kepa Arrizabalaga has struggled for Chelsea this season, and Blues boss Frank Lampard had seen enough of the Spaniard’s woes as he deemed it fit to keep the Chelsea number one on the bench for six consecutive games.
Kepa eventually returned to the starting line-up in our last game against Liverpool as the Blues sent Liverpool packing from the FA Cup with a 2-0 victory.
Kepa was outstanding in that game and had a high point when he made a triple save to deny Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Lampard has now revealed ahead of Sunday’s clash with Everton that Kepa’s performance has given him food for thoughts.
Lampard said: “Yeah it’s given me thoughts. He did very well, it’s exactly what I wanted from him and I understand that that’s not easy because everyone looks to the goalkeeper more than an outfield player.
“All eyes are on and I’ve mentioned in the weeks before that he’s been professional in how he’s handled it when has been out of the team. He came in and did exactly what I want so he’s given me good thinking.”
