According to Manchester United legend Roy Keane, Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour was too good for Liverpool’s Adam Lallana in Chelsea’s 2-0 FA Cup victory over Liverpool.
Keane called Everton a tougher test for Gilmour and insists the 18 year old midfielder looks like a world class player.
“I think Everton in a strange way will be a tougher test than the Liverpool game, because Lallana was in midfield that night and I think my daughter’s probably stronger than him,” Keane said on Sky Sports ahead of Chelsea’s 4-0 victory over Everton.
“(Gilmour’s) performance the other night was fantastic. I was sitting at home and as the game started I was literally getting out of my seat thinking ‘who is this kid in midfield.’
“There are certain traits you want from a midfielder: quality on the ball, footballing intelligence, composure – he had everything.
“It was one of the best performances I’ve seen in a long, long time. The downside for the kid now is he’s got to back it up.”
“The way the game started, he was just like a world class player,” Keane added.
“I thought it was one of their experience lads at first. I kept a close eye on him throughout the game and everything he did just had quality written all over it.
“He’s a small kid but he’s got a big composure about him.”
