Manchester United have had troubles in convincing their academy product Angel Gomes to remain with the club.
The 19-year-old is holding out for better financial terms in his new contract, and United had previously offered him a two-year deal worth £25,000-a-week.
Chelsea tried to take advantage of the situation to sign up Gomes whose contract is due to expire at the end of the season, as the Blues are aiming to sign him up for free.

In order to ward off Chelsea, Manchester United are now prepared to offer him £30,000-a-week with an option of a third year included, Metro claim.
Gomes has been frustrated by a lack of first-team opportunities, making just six appearances in all competitions this season, and Chelsea have reportedly promised him more playing time at the club as Blues boss Frank Lampard has been giving playing opportunities to the club’s youngsters.
Chelsea are still monitoring the situation and could swoop in if no agreement is met.
