Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount had a great start to the season as he was banging in the goals, and it didn’t take him long to reach 5 Premier League goals as he was tipped to reach double digits and be a high scoring midfielder like Frank Lampard.
However, before his goal against Everton on Sunday, Mason Mount’s goals had dried up and he had failed to score for the Blues since early December.
After his stunning performance against Everton where he got a goal, a relieved Mount has now revealed that he has been thinking too much about scoring.
“I feel like recently I’ve been trying too hard to score, snatching at shots and trying to take shots when I’m off balance,” he revealed after the Everton game.
“When you’re so focused on ‘I want to score, I need to score’, then that does happen – you don’t take your time and focus on the technique.
“I’ve been over-thinking and it’s not been going my way so I was trying to stay calm and not trying to look for it as much as I have been. I was just focused on the performance and then it happened. I turned, took a touch and finished it. It’s something where you don’t have to try that hard, it just comes at the right time and obviously it did today.”
Mount now has six Premier League goals and 4 assists so far this season.
