Chelsea are deep in injury crisis as the midfield and forward positions have shortages at the moment.
The likes of N’Golo Kante, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Christian Pulisic and Tammy Abraham have been out injured, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek is yet to reach full fitness since his injury last May.
Mateo Kovacic and Willian then joined the injury list as they both had to be taken off in the 2-0 win against Liverpool in the FA Cup fifth round tie at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.
Speaking after the game, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard bemoaned the injuries but hinted that Willian’s case wasn’t too serious.
“Both have got an Achilles issue,” Lampard confirmed after the game.
“Willian hopefully is not too bad, that is what he is reporting there so we will see how he is tomorrow. Kovacic’s feels slightly worse. Hopefully not too drastic, so we’ll see.”
Ahead of this weekend’s game against Everton, Lampard revealed that Willian is a hopeful, but he refused to give much on whether he’d play the game.
“Willian we are assessing,” added Lampard. “He is a question mark for Sunday.”
