Former France international Karim Benzema seems to have taken a dig at Olivier Giroud as he has labelled Giroud as a ‘carting car’ while hailing himself as ‘F1’.
Benzema had said: “You don’t confuse F1 with go karting. And I’m being kind. Next… and I know i’m F1.”
In defence of what he earlier said, Benzema made another video to justify his comment.
“Some people only took away things about Giroud and Formula 1 [from the live broadcast], but they didn’t remark what I said about what he’d brought to the French national team,” Benzema said in another video.
“They only focused on that, on what I said about Formula 1 and karting, but it’s what I think and it’s the truth.
“Look, if I was asked about R9 (Ronaldo Nazario), then he would be the Formula 1 and I would be the kart. Short and simple.”
Benzema hasn’t played for France since 2015, and stats have shown that the Real Madrid star has no right to take a dig at Giroud, as far as playing for the national team is concerned.
Stats show that Giroud boasts a better goal per game ratio, 0.40, as compared to Benzema’s average of 0.33.
Meanwhile, Giroud is yet to react to the statement.
