Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour had an impressive game in Chelsea’s 2-0 FA Cup victory over Liverpool on Tuesday night at Stamford Bridge.
The 18-year-old produced a masterclass in midfield and was named man of the match as Chelsea beat Liverpool to progress to the next round of the FA Cup.
The youngster has been the talking point of the team’s victory after a standout performance in the absence of some senior players who are out injured.
Gilmour has been training with the senior team but last played a senior team game against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup four months ago.
The 18-year-old had no idea he’d play against Liverpool on Tuesday as Chelsea boss Frank Lampard only told him on the matchday that he would feature from the start.
Rather than being nervous, a hungry Gilmour has revealed that he was raring to go.
He said: “I was not nervous, I was more looking forward to it, to go and show what I can do, and it was a really good game, we stuck together and did really well.”
After the game, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard admitted he was pleased with his performance and even hinted that he could start against Everton this weekend.
