The Premier League has been suspended for three weeks due to coronavirus fears, and the league is due to resume on April 4. However this date is only a presumption and not a certainty as it all depends on how the coronavirus has been handled or contained.
There are various schools of thoughts as to how the season should be concluded as the coronavirus outbreak might remain beyond this month.
Some Premier League clubs are of the opinion to hand Liverpool the title early if the season cannot be completed due to the coronavirus crisis.
Some believe that the 2019-20 season should be cancelled, which will be a huge blow to league leaders Liverpool, who are two games short of becoming Premier League champions. Some also believe that the league should end up this way, while some want games to be played behind closed doors.
Anyhow it goes, it will definitely end favourably for Chelsea. But some Gunners will be rooting for the season to be voided.
If the new season is voided, it simply means that the new campaign will begin based on the standings of the 2018/19 campaign, when Arsenal finished fifth in the table.
With Manchester City also facing a possible Champions League ban, this would mean an extra space, going to the next highest outside of the top four.
More updates on the season will come up after Thursday’s proposed Premier League meeting among club representatives.
