Marcos Alonso has named former Chelsea striker Diego Costa as the player he regrets left the club.

Costa was a beast while playing for Chelsea and helped the Blues win the Premier League under Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.

However, he left Chelsea to return to Atletico Madrid after falling out with Conte.

Asked to select any former Chelsea player and bring them back to the current squad in a Q&A on the club’s Instagram, Alonso replied: “The beast himself and my good friend, Diego Costa.”

Costa spent only three seasons in the Premier League, and he was indeed a beast and terror to defenders, and the Blues have struggled to replace him since then, despite big name signings like Alvaro Morata and Gonzalo Higuain joining the club.
