Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard are two of the best midfielders the Premier League has ever seen.
Gerrard and Lampard were top players in their prime but never managed to play alongside each other in midfield for England.
However, former Three Lions manager Fabio Capello says he had no choice but to pick them as a midfield duo.
Before Capello, Sven Goran Eriksson and Steve McClaren never truly got the best out of Gerrard and Lampard.
Capello who had experience as Real Madrid and AC Milan manager was asked by The Guardian why he couldn’t get the best out of them, and the 73-year-old said: “Because they played in the same place.
“Why not remove one, then? Because the other players aren’t better!”
Capello also denied ever shifting Gerrard out to the left, adding: “No, only when defending. When we had the ball Gerrard was free.”
