According to former Newcastle United and West Ham goalkeeper Shaka Hislop, Chelsea legend Petr Cech is the second best goalkeeper in Premier League history, only behind Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel.
Hislop named Arsenal legend David Seaman as the third best goalkeeper in Premier League history, United legend Edwin van der Sar as fourth best and current Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker as the fifth best in Premier League history.
“Petr Cech without question was one of the best goalkeepers that the Premier League has seen,” Hislop said.
“Maybe time may numb some of the memories about his own contributions to this league. A presence in the goal, a reliability with the big saves, a reliability not to make mistakes. Petr Cech was amongst the best.”
Cech clocked almost 500 appearances for Chelsea, winning as many as 13 major pieces of silverware.
Meanwhile, Hislop believes Hakim Ziyech could hurt Callum Hudson-Odoi’s playing time at Chelsea.
“I like it, given his age and his experience,” Hislop told ESPN about Chelsea’s signing of Ziyech.
“But then, you look at who Chelsea have in Willian and Hudson-Odoi.
“Again, given what we’ve seen from Ajax I would take a chance on any of their players.
“But, it does give you a real problem with Hudson-Odoi.
“Willian has been linked with a move away, but he’s still a player I would love to have in my squad.
“It gives Frank Lampard a problem, but those are problems that managers want to have.”
