Jadon Sancho’s Borussia Dortmund teammate Emre Can has hailed the winger as ‘world class’ and ‘the best of his age’.
The 20-year-old has impressed for Borussia Dortmund this season, scoring 14 Bundesliga goals and providing 15 assists.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is keen on signing the winger as a replacement for Eden Hazard, who left Chelsea for Real Madrid last summer.
“I knew he was a very good player even before I joined Dortmund,” Emre Can told German publication Bild.
“But since I’ve arrived, I’ve found out that he’s world-class and maybe the best player of his age.
“He has everything a top footballer needs and has a great future ahead of him.”
It is believed Chelsea have an edge over Manchester United in the race for Sancho because he’s a Chelsea fan but The Athletic’s David Ornstein has dismissed such suggestions.
“Sancho grew up supporting Chelsea and they are an option for him – but that doesn’t mean he’s going there,” said Ornstein.
“Same Champions League issue as Man United applies to them.
“Sancho and Dortmund can sit tight for a bit, see how things develop and go from there.
“I wouldn’t rule Chelsea out but I don’t think they are in pole position, as things stand – I don’t think any club is.”
