Dayot Upamecano is regarded as one of the best young central defenders in Europe, and the young 22-year-old defender is garnering interest from Europe’s top clubs for his performance with German side RB Leipzig.
Upamecano will be out of contract in 2021, and has a release clause of €60m, but RB Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff has stressed that the Bundesliga outfit don’t feel any financial pressure and won’t lower the release clause of Upamecano.
“We have an outstanding squad and could easily start the new season with this squad. It’s clear that we wouldn’t sell a player below value [even] if he wanted to,” he told Sportbuzzer.
“You can assume that we will have talks [with Upamecano] that will be to everyone’s satisfaction.”
