Chelsea legend Didier Drogba was considered as one of the hot favourites to become the new president of the Ivory Coast FA.
But Drogba has been handed a massive blow in his bid to become the new president of the Ivory Coast FA after no ex-player voted in his favour.
11 out of the 14 members in the panel voted for Drogba’s rival and current Ivory Coast FA chief, Sory Diabate, while the remaining three abstained from the election.
Drogba, however still stands a chance, with votes from the Active Footballers Association, coaches, referees and physios yet to be cast.
It was expected that Drogba will win the elections as many see him capable of reviving the fortunes of Ivorian football.
The 42-year-old remains the all-time top-scorer in the history of the Ivorian national team, with 65 goals in 105 appearances.
