According to Daily Mail, Everton believe they have won the race to sign highly-rated Brazil defender Gabriel Magalhaes from Lille in a deal that will cost them around £30million.
Chelsea were believed to be leading the race for the Brazilian centre-back but Everton now believe they have won the race to sign the 22 year old defender ahead of Chelsea.
Marcel Brands, Everton’s Director of Football, has been working on the deal for the Chelsea target for the past two months and Everton reportedly believe they have done enough to persuade the former Brazil Under 20 international to move to Merseyside.
This news will come as a huge blow to Chelsea boss Frank Lampard, who has been keen on signing the Brazilian centre-back because he is left-footed.
Gabriel Magalhaes made 34 appearances in all competitions this season before the coronavirus pandemic brought professional football to a halt and played twice against Chelsea in the Champions League group stage.
