While the English league and German league are planning on resuming football activities in order to conclude the 2019-20 campaign, French league has now joined the Dutch league and Belgian league to cancel the current campaign.
According to a report by RMC Sport, the 2019-20 season in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 has been declared null and void.
French media outlets RMC Sport and L’Equipe have reported that football authorities in France have been forced to cancel the 2019-20 season in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, with the government set to announce a ban on all professional football until August due to the coronavirus pandemic.
French Prime Minister, Edouard Philippe is expected to announce this in his speech to the National Assembly.
Meanwhile, the Bundesliga is set to resume on May 9 and the German football federation has issued a set of guidelines for the players to follow ahead of restarting the season.
The Premier League is expected to restart by June 13, with 92 outstanding Premier League games expected to be played behind closed doors in an eight-week period. The FA Cup will also make its return.
