According to Daily Mail, Chelsea are set to make a move for highly-rated German striker Luca Waldschmidt this summer, with a £20million move on the cards.
The Freiburg striker could join Chelsea in the summer if the Blues miss out on RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.
Waldschmidt has scored five Bundesliga goals this season having missed two months with a knee injury, while he has been capped twice by the German national team.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard wants options in attack, with Michy Batshuayi out of favour and Olivier Giroud set to leave the club at the end of the season.
Waldschmidt is highly rated in Germany and has been nicknamed ‘Il Bomber’, in a reference to West Germany icon Gerd Muller, whose nickname was ‘Der Bomber’.
He scored seven goals in four games in last summer’s European Under 21 Championship in Italy.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have reportedly made direct contact with the representatives of Werner to discuss a deal for the RB Leipzig striker.
Werner, who has a £52m release clause, has been in excellent form for Leipzig this season with 27 goals in 36 appearances so far.
