Chelsea star Willian is in the final year of his contract with the Blues and is yet to agree a new deal with the club.
Willian has confirmed that Chelsea have offered him a new two year deal, while he’s holding out for three.
Willian has admitted that he’s keen to remain in London and with Chelsea, but Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson believes that the Brazilian has already had his future sorted out.
“Let’s not kid ourselves, when this sort of situation crops up usually a player has already agreed a deal with another club. It’s already done and dusted,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“Willian is not sitting and waiting until the end of the season on the chance he’s going to fill his boots. That’s normally all sorted in January.
“It’s very rare someone sees their contract out and then goes from there because you can’t take that chance. I’d be shocked if he hasn’t already agreed a deal to join another club because it’s very rare to not get your situation sorted.
“You are allowed to talk to other clubs from January, so I just don’t see why you’d wait. Why would you take that chance? Football is such a short career and there was no one who’d take that chance of a loss of form or a bad injury.
“I’d be so surprised if he hasn’t sorted out his next club and his next contract but if he hasn’t, he’s stuck because I don’t think he’ll get a three-year deal now.”
