It’s always a risk going for a top player who seems to have fallen from his best form after a move away from his previous club. We’ve seen this happen with Fernando Torres, Kaka, Alexis Sanchez, Andriy Shevchenko, Radamel Falcao… The list goes on.
Reports claim that Chelsea are in talks with the representatives of Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho over a summer transfer move to Stamford Bridge.
According to reports, Blues boss Frank Lampard is of the opinion that he can transform the fortune of Coutinho and bring out the best of the Brazilian as we saw in Liverpool.
However, Chelsea want a loan deal for Coutinho with the Blues covering his £11.5m annual salary but Barcelona are demanding a mandatory purchase clause be inserted into the deal.
Barcelona are reportedly willing to reduce their price tag to £53m if Chelsea agree to buy Coutinho at the end of his loan deal at Stamford Bridge.
