Gary Cahill was a top player for Chelsea, and the Blues signed him for a meagre £8m from Bolton. He went on to win the Champions League with the Blues and the Premier League as well, and went on to captain the Chelsea team before leaving at the end of last season.
In an interview with Gary Cahill for the Daily Mail, pundit and former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp has spoken of how his father, Harry Redknapp regrets missing out on the former Chelsea defender when he was manager of Tottenham Hotspur.

Jamie Redknapp said to Cahill: “I went to one of those [Bolton] games against Tottenham and I remember my dad saying afterwards: ‘I’ve got to sign him, he’s different class.’
“Then you went to Chelsea! I know for a fact one of my dad’s big regrets is missing out on you.”
However, Cahill on his part admitted that he was pleased to have signed up for Chelsea.
In his response, Cahill said: “When someone like Chelsea comes in for you, you just go.
“You’re never quite sure to what degree is it a managerial or club decision. But I wasn’t too interested in that. I just wanted to be at a top club and grab hold of my chance.”
