Chelsea have four top centre-backs in Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tomori. All four have been involved at some point this season, but it seems Chelsea boss Frank Lampard eventually settled for the pairing of Rudiger and Christensen just before the suspension of the league.

Chelsea’s defence has struggled this season and the Blues have shipped in a total of 39 goals in 29 games played thus far.

Kurt Zouma started the season strongly as Lampard’s first choice, as Rudiger was injured, but Frenchman now finds himself as third choice and seems to have lost his place in the Chelsea first team.

Zouma seems to have been criticised a lot this season, but stats from WhoScored rankings have revealed that the French centre-back comfortably beats other Chelsea defenders when it comes to aerial duels. In fact, he’s the only Chelsea defender with 4 aerial duel wins per game.

Christensen comes second on 3.3. Antonio Rudiger, meanwhile, has just 2.8.

However, Fikayo Tomori isn’t in the top 5.

For much of the season, Lampard has struggled to get his perfect backline, especially in the centre-back position. Who do you think will be our perfect centre-back pair?
