The jersey number 10 is a big jersey shirt at Chelsea, and Blues winger Willian took over the shirt from former star man, Eden Hazard.
The Brazilian has worn the number 10 shirt this season, and it has come with a lot more expectation on him.
Willian was asked whether the criticism he has been getting for wearing the number bothers him, but he told ESPN Brasil: “No, I was not upset, no. I also always liked to dress at 10, since when I started, on the basis of Corinthians and professional, too. It is a number that I feel good about.”
Willian’s Chelsea contract expires at the end of the season and the Brazilian has given a latest update on his contract negotiations with the Blues as it is yet to be seen whether he will be the occupant of the 10 shirt next season.
Speaking to Brazilian media outlet UOL, Willian said: “The only concrete negotiation was to renew a contract with Chelsea, which wasn’t possible.
“They wanted a two-year contract and I asked for three. Now, everything has stopped, I will only have news when I return.
“We hear the rumours, we know that we have interest from clubs, especially because I’ll be free in the market, I’ll be able to negotiate, there are no offers for now. Nobody [came to me yet].
“I can’t deny it, of course, I have a special affection for Corinthians, but returning to Brazil is not something I think about now. It doesn’t cross my mind. I still have a lot of market in Europe.”
