Swap deals are not new to football, and we’ve seen a swap deal happen before between Chelsea and bitter rivals Arsenal as the Blues got Ashley Cole and gave Arsenal William Gallas plus some cash in return, back in 2006.

Interestingly, Arsenal are currently eyeing up Chelsea winger Willian, while the Blues have been linked with Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Willian has been so far unable to broker a contract renewal with Chelsea, as the Brazilian wants a three-year deal but has been handed a two-year deal by the club.

Willian is happy to remain in London, and his agent, Kia Joorabchian, has good relations with the Gunners after negotiating Edu’s return to the Emirates and helping David Luiz make the same move to the Emirates Stadium.

However, a swap deal will be ruled out of this situation as Willian is already in the final year of his contract with Chelsea.
