Dries Mertens’ deal at Napoli expires this summer, and Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is keen on landing the Belgium star.

Lampard is reportedly in contact with Napoli star Dries Mertens about a possible transfer to Stamford Bridge in the summer.

According to Naples newspaper Il Mattino, Lampard recently got in touch with Mertens to let the Belgian know he wants to sign him this summer.

Meanwhile, Sport Mediaset claims Inter Milan are ‘increasingly likely’ to land the Belgian on a free transfer when his Napoli deal expires on June 30.

The Italian outlet claim that Antonio Conte’s side have offered the forward a two-year contract with an annual salary of €5 million on top of a large signing-on bonus.

Mertens will be a free agent at the end of the season and HLN journalist Kristof Terreur, has admitted that Blues boss Frank Lampard is still keen on signing the Belgian.

“Situation unchanged for Dries Mertens: Inter still sniffing around, Chelsea very interested. He might have to wait for the end of the Serie A season to decide his future,” Terreur tweeted.

Terreur had revealed in a previous tweet: “Lampard likes him a lot, also because he can cover a few positions.”
