Avram Grant was appointed Chelsea boss after Jose Mourinho’s sack in September 2007 following a stuttering start to the season.
Chelsea did rediscover our form after Grant took over. Grant never lost a game at Stamford Bridge and boasted a 66.7 per cent win record.
However, Chelsea fell short at important moments under Grant. The Blues missed out on the Premier League title on the final day, lost the Champions League final to Manchester United, lost to Barnsley in the FA Cup sixth round and were beaten by Tottenham in the League Cup final in a game where we took the lead.
That wasn’t good enough for Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, who sacked the Israeli at the end of the season.
Grant has now revealed the big difference between himself and Mourinho, the man he replaced at Chelsea.
Grant told The Sun: “In a good way, Jose likes to be the centre of everything, the star. My approach is I am the director of a movie — the stars are the players.”
