According to Daily Mirror, Chelsea believe they are close to landing Manchester United starlet Angel Gomes.
Manchester United and Gomes have failed to agree terms over a new contract after a year of talks, and the 19-year-old winger will be able to join Chelsea as a free agent this summer.
Daily Mirror claim Gomes has recruited super-agent Pini Zahavi who is understood to have held talks with Blues transfer chief Marina Granovskaia.
Gomes rejected a new deal worth £30,000-a-week from Manchester United because he is concerned about first team chances at Old Trafford after just six first-team appearances for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side this season.
Lampard’s willingness to promote youth at Chelsea appeals to Gomes. The likes of Mason Mount, Reece James, Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori have all benefited from Lampard’s willingness to promote youth at Stamford Bridge.
