Chelsea have decided to extend the deals of Willy Caballero and Olivier Giroud for one more year – meaning the duo won’t be free agents anymore during the summer transfer window.
Two experienced senior team players who will be free agents are Willian and Pedro – as the duo are yet to extend their contracts with the club.
It seems Pedro’s time at Chelsea is over as there haven’t been talks for a new contract with the Spaniard, while Willian is still at loggerheads with the club over the number of years in his contract terms.
Willian has admitted that it’s a difficult situation for him.
“It’s a difficult situation because Chelsea offered me two years and they are not going to change what they offered. I said I wanted three more years,” the winger told Brazilian outlet Esporte Interativo.
“The situation is difficult because of this. I really don’t know if it will be possible [to stay].
“My goal is to continue working and focus on the remainder of the season, so that Chelsea can continue winning games.
“I have a clear head and I’m focused for the rest of the season that we have left. I think it’s difficult [to stay]. Let’s see what happens.”
Willian has been strongly linked with a move to Chelsea’s London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham.
