Chelsea boss Frank Lampard seemed to have given up on record signing goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga after he dropped the Spaniard for a number of matches in a row.
Chelsea have also been linked with a move for Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana, and the Cameroon international has now revealed that he’s set for his next move away from Ajax.
Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag recently confirmed that the club has an agreement with Onana to let him leave.
“Andre is very important to us and of course we don’t want to lose him,” the Ajax boss told Algemeen Dagblad.
But it’s true that we have an agreement from last year about the development scenario and what steps we will take if the right club comes in at the right price.”
Meanwhile, Kepa had just revealed a week ago that he was confident he has the manager’s trust.
“The relationship with Frank is very good,” said Kepa, according to Metro.
“He has shown me confidence from the first moment.
“He must make decisions, but I feel I have his confidence, both his and that of the whole club. We all like to play in every game.
“It is true that, in the last 10 years, Chelsea is the English team that has won the most titles, and I think we should have that ambition.
“In fact, I came here for that and in the first season we already achieved the Europa League.
“We have a young team. Then came the penalty of not signing players [the transfer ban] but you have to keep fighting for titles. I want to win everything with Chelsea and with the national team.”
With Andre Onana now set to join Chelsea, the Blues number one will surely be threatened with the recent development.
