Nigerian Football Federation chairman Amanju Pinnick tried to convince Tammy Abraham to play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, but the young striker opted to play for the country of his birth.
Abraham has shown a lot of potential and has led the line for Chelsea pretty well, with 13 Premier League goals so far this season. Despite his fine form, Chelsea are still searching for a striker ahead of next season, and one of the strikers to have been linked with Chelsea is Lille’s centre-forward Victor Osimhen.
Osimhen who will turn 22 in December is age mates with Abraham, and there have been a recent debate on who’s the better striker.
Pinnick has however revealed that he’s satisfied with the form and potential of Osimhen.
Pinnick told Plus TV: “We have Osimhen that is doing very well, I cannot tell you that Tammy Abraham is better than Osimhen, it’s not possible.
“Let us watch and see the future of these players. We are happy and very contented with what we have right now. The only thing we need to do is consolidate and build a very strong Super Eagles that can contest for the qualifying rounds and World Cup proper. We have a very young team.”
