The UK Government eased some lockdown restrictions on Sunday which handed a boost to a possible restart of the Premier League.

According to The Telegraph, the UK Government have given the Premier League the permission to resume the campaign on June 12, subject to safety measures being taken and cases not rising.

The Premier League is well aware of the huge reputational risk by rolling out a return too quickly and public health will always remain its No 1 priority.

Premier League clubs are expected to discuss the latest government advice on Monday.

The Premier League is encouraged by the Bundesliga’s return to games this month but it should be noted that Germany is at a more advanced stage of containing the virus than the UK.
