Chelsea are in need of a striker, and the Blues have been linked with a number of strikers ahead of next season.
One of such strikers to have been linked with Chelsea is Inter Milan hitman Lautaro Martinez, and it isn’t just the Blues who have been linked with the Argentine, as Barcelona are favourites for his signature.
Lautaro’s current contract carries a €111m buyout clause, and reports claim that he’s keen on a move to Barcelona.
Reports also claim that Martinez had been tabled terms by Barca worth €10m-a-year – a figure that’s quite generous for a 22-year-old who is yet to prove himself for several seasons.
Chelsea do not need to engage in a bidding war for a player at this time, and the risk involved in the talented but unproven Martinez might not be worth it.
Martinez has been in good form this season, with 16 goals in all competitions and 11 goals in just 22 Serie A games. But last season, the young striker only managed 6 goals in 27 league games.
Lautaro Martinez is same age with Blues academy product Tammy Abraham, and I believe Abraham should be given room to continue his development at the club.
