The agent of Chelsea transfer target Timo Werner has reportedly warned Chelsea to forget about signing the RB Leipzig striker as the deal to take the German to Liverpool is effectively done.
This is according to transfer expert Ian McGarry, who claims Werner has agreed personal terms with Premier League leaders Liverpool.
McGarry said: “It has been widely reported that Chelsea and Manchester United have been interested in the player.
“Our information is that’s not the case.
“The reason for that is that they believe and have been told by the player’s representatives that a deal is effectively done to Liverpool.
“And effectively they would be wasting their time.”
He added: “Werner has agreed personal terms with Liverpool.
“On a five-year contract that will pay the player around £140,000-a-week.”
Werner, 24, still has three years left to run on his current deal but the striker has a release clause of £49 million which expires on June 15.
Meanwhile, RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann admitted earlier this week that Werner could leave the German club this summer.
He said: “There is nothing we can do about it. He knows what he has in Leipzig and also what he has with me.
“I show him that — he gets many chances to develop himself.
“I don’t know if it will help him that much if I tell him every day.
“A player has to feel that he can get better. If he doesn’t feel that, it wouldn’t do any good if I kept on telling him to stay here.
“In the end, it is his life, his career, he can decide that. I can’t think of anything new to say to Timo.”
