According to Daily Mirror, Chelsea winger Willian received a contract offer worth £250,000 a week from Arsenal before the coronavirus outbreak.
Willian is expected to leave Chelsea on a free transfer this summer after failing to agree a new contract but Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has insisted he wants the Brazilian to remain at Stamford Bridge.
Willian wants a three year deal to remain at Stamford Bridge while the Blues are offering the Brazilian a two year deal.
With Willian reportedly earning around £120, 000 weekly at Chelsea, the offer by Arsenal is more than double his Chelsea contract.
Daily Mirror claim Arsenal are now deciding whether to follow through on their original offer to Willian, or reduce their package following the financial impact of the pandemic.
Willian has previously revealed he is open to joining a rival club if he leaves Chelsea.
“It really is a hard decision,” Willian said.
“I identified myself a lot at Chelsea, I have a lot of love for everyone at the club, and the fans.
“However, it is like I said before, if I leave Chelsea with no trouble and leaving the doors open, it would be fine to move to a rival club.”
